Justice Behind Bars: Child Killer Urfan Sharif Brutally Attacked in Prison After Daughter’s Murder

The world stood still in horror on August 8, 2023, when news broke about the tragic death of 10-year-old Sara Sharif. Her bright smile and loving nature made her loss even harder to bear. But it wasn’t just the heartbreaking loss that captured headlines — it was the chilling truth behind her death: her own father, Urfan Sharif, had brutally ended her young life.

Sara’s final years were nothing short of a nightmare. According to BBC reports, she endured a horrifying “campaign of torture” over two years. She was found hooded, beaten, and even burned, lying lifelessly on a bunkbed in her family home in Woking, Surrey. A chilling note, later confirmed to be written by Urfan himself, lay next to her, stating: “Whoever sees this note, it’s me Urfan Sharif who killed my daughter by beating. I am running away because I am scared.”

Shockingly, Urfan, along with Sara’s stepmother Beinash Batool and her uncle Faisal Malik, fled to Pakistan just a day before police discovered Sara’s body. What followed was an intense international manhunt, bringing global attention to one of the most gut-wrenching child abuse cases in recent memory.

When the trio was finally caught and extradited to the UK, they faced a barrage of evidence too gruesome to imagine. Court proceedings revealed that little Sara had suffered over 70 injuries: fractured ribs, crushed shoulder blades, broken fingers, a puncture wound to her head, 11 fractures in her spine, a traumatic brain injury, burns from a domestic iron, and even human bite marks.

Initially, Urfan and the others denied any wrongdoing. But under the crushing weight of evidence — and likely guilt — Urfan eventually changed his story, admitting, “She died because of me.” On December 17, 2024, Urfan Sharif was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 40 years, while Batool received a minimum of 33 years. Malik, although not directly responsible for the murder, was sentenced to 16 years for causing or allowing Sara’s death.

During the sentencing, Mr. Justice Cavanagh described their actions as “almost inconceivably cruel,” calling it a “campaign of torture.” Sara’s mother, Olga Domin, delivered a heartbreaking statement in court, referring to the trio as “sadists,” though even that word, she said, was not enough to capture their evil.

Olga’s words, however, offered a bittersweet comfort when she turned to her daughter’s memory: “She is now an angel who looks down on us from heaven. She is no longer experiencing violence.”

But justice didn’t stop in the courtroom. Inside South London’s HMP Belmarsh, one of Britain’s toughest prisons nicknamed “Britain’s Guantanamo Bay,” Urfan Sharif faced another kind of judgment — from his fellow inmates.

In prison, there is an unwritten code among convicts: crimes against children are considered the most vile, and those who commit them are treated with utter contempt. Despite trying to keep his head down, word about Urfan’s monstrous actions quickly spread. According to a prison insider, even among hardened criminals, “a lot of them don’t like people who attack children.”

On New Year’s Day, just weeks into his sentence, two prisoners decided they had heard enough. They launched a brutal attack against Urfan using a jagged lid from a tuna can as a weapon. They ambushed him in his cell, slicing into his face and neck, leaving him severely injured and needing urgent medical care.

“He was lucky to survive,” the source said. “He had to get stitches and will carry permanent scars from the attack.” Guards had been trying to protect him, knowing full well he was a prime target, but it was only a matter of time before someone got to him.

The assault was reportedly carried out by Steve Sansom, an inmate serving life for the grisly murder and dismemberment of Sarah Mayhew in 2024 — and who was already a convicted murderer from a case in 1999. Even among murderers, there is a hierarchy of evil, and Urfan’s crimes placed him at the very bottom.

“In prison, something like this was always going to happen,” added the insider. “Many inmates said it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving guy.” Despite the near-fatal injuries, Urfan survived — but with physical scars that now match the emotional ones he left on his daughter.

The entire saga continues to haunt many — not only because of the unimaginable cruelty little Sara endured but also because it serves as a reminder: in some dark corners of the world, there is a price to pay beyond the courtroom.
